Advantages of powder coating

The purposes of coating an article such as metal work piece are to achieve dual effectiveness of protection and esthetics. Without the use of a solvent, powder coatings possess following advantages in comparison with traditional liquid coatings since this coating technique adapts only dry powder for film formation.

  1. Complying with environmental protection trend
There is no solvent in powder coatings. No pollution is caused during transportation, storage and coating processes and thus environmental protection trend is complied with.
  2. Achieving high performance coating
Film thickness of 40 to 150μcan be obtained by powder coating according to the requirement to reduce the number of coating processes. Powder coating has good coverage with good film uniformity and does not exhibit surface defects such as craters and pinholes from evaporating solvent.
  3. Increasing coating utilization for economic benefit
The utilization of powder coating can reach 90 to 99% with the use of recycle equipment. By contrast, there is a loss rate of 60% for traditional liquid coatings. Powder coating apparently is the coating option with attractive economic benefit.
  4. Facilitating coating operation with high efficiency
Any operator can be qualified for powder coating operation after simple training. Due to the high output of static coating, powder coating can show 3 to 5 times of coating capability in comparison with solvent coating. Moreover, powder coating is highly reliable for coating required high quality and low defects.
